Folding poetry is a website dedicated to blindfolded collective creation - collaborating on poetry completely randomly, together with complete strangers.
The idea is simple enough - a poem is started by writing one line, and start of a second. The next person will only see the second part, and can continue the poem from there. After an arbitrary number of lines the poem is finished. The results are bewildering, ridiculous, profound, thought provoking or in many cases a mixture of all of the above.
The concept comes from the old parlour game known by the name Exquisite Corpse (Le corps exquis), invented by surrealist artists in the beginning of the 20th century. Consider this the 21th century version, the bigger purpose of which is to not only take the pulse on where the mind of a room is at, but where the mind of the world is at.
